Chissick Chat with Elaine R. Chissick and Dr. Liz Walder
Welcome to the twelfth edition of Chissick Chat, where we are saying hello to Dr. Liz Walder, British author of non-fiction works on architectural history. Welcome to my blog. Please can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself and your books?
Dr Liz Walder, academic and architectural historian, who has written widely on the subject of architectural prizes and medals, from the 19th century to the present day.
What, or who, inspires you?
Personal research
Do you enjoy reading the same genre as the one you write in?
Yes, because it’s important to research each aspect appropriately. Plus I work in a modern architectural practice to see how the guidelines of the past are applied to today’s practices.
Has any of your research taken you to an unusual place?
No, but I have spoken on my research in Lund, Sweden and Lisbon, Portugal as well as opening a conference in Oxford, UK.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m chairing a session at the All Ireland Architectural Research Group conference in late January 2017 about the late female architect Zaha Hadid.
What are your future writing plans?
To publish my PhD!
Is there anything you don’t like about writing/being an author?
